Porsche Recalling 1,200 2012 911 Carrera S Models Over Possible Fuel Leak

DETROIT (AP) — Porsche is recalling more than 1,200 of its 911 Carrera S sports cars because a fuel line can come loose and cause a fire. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its website Saturday that the line can come apart at a connection and leak fuel. The agency says that could cause loss of power and a crash, or it could cause a fire. Porsche says it doesn't know of any fires or accidents.

Porsche says the problem happens because a coolant pipe can touch a connection on the fuel line and loosen it. Dealers will either replace the fuel line or make sure the connections are tight. They'll also install a spacer to keep the lines apart. The recall involves model year 2012 911 Carrera S vehicles manufactured from October 26, 2011, through January 24, 2012.

DJ - that pic is of a 997...

This is bad news for the brand-new 911. Let's hope Porsche sorts it out ASAP. We can't have 911s flambee-ing like Ferraris!

Yep in know. It doesn't state 991 or 997, but I gather you are right and it is the 991. Will change it out.

I find it ironic that you are being critical considering your sig quote.

But I know what you mean. I don't think it is any of those things. Sounds like an easy fix and that it was caught before there have actually been any problems. I am confident they will fix it.

Odd something like this wouldn't arise on the mules considering the miles Porsche put on them

It is the 991. Here's some additional information regarding the cars affected. "Porsche is recalling certain model year 2012 911 Carrera S vehicles manufactured from October 26, 2011, through January 24, 2012." Mine was completed 3/22...hope they fixed the problem.

Wow - was thinking the same thing. These cars are thoroughly tested.
Certainly not a good sign for the new 911.

Door dings, high speed stone chips, love scrapes etc. qualify as imperfections... somehow a "flame on fuel fire" from a bad line seems a bit more than an imperfection LOL
