Porsche 991 Carrera S Launch Control
I filmed the TV show Test Drive for Speed TV today on the new 991. The car was great, but a bit disappointing for those of us who are expecting something better. Yes its better in ways, but its pretty plush. Porsche seems to have lost their edge a bit. If your looking for a fun new daily driver you may track, this car isnt for you. It would be great on the street alone, but on the track it wont give you the thrill an older RS will.
Anyways here is a video from my iPhone that I took as we were filming our final segment. Its pretty cool how this launch control works, and the exhaust note is just intoxicating! Let me know what you think, and keep your eye out for the show in late March!
Sorry, the video is a bit lame, but you get the idea! Thats the producer Robert speaking to me over the radio haha.

Considering an RS is meant for track use, I see your point. However, I don't understand saying a 991S won't fit the bill for DD and occasional track use. Did you have the same view on the 997S? Just curious.

Oh my bad...no idea who he is. Well sh*t if I spent most of my life at over 160mph I'd think the 991 is a little underwhelming too. LOL
Graham you're a pro driver dude, I'm sure a few bumps don't faze ya!

It does sound great for a stock Carrera & the launch control.....I think I'd be hitting that button @ every red light. I can understand that it will not have the feedback of Porsche's GT3/RS, but I think that's ok.....If the new GT3/RS felt like this, I'd be very worried.
I'm looking forward to the complete video, thanks for posting.
