think 7th gear is spaced slightly further away from 5th compared to 1st, 3rd and 5th

 

Most likely... probably you also have to push down as in engaging reverse? Still haven't found a bit of tech data on it.

 

If you watch the video then you can see that he didn't do anything different when shifting it into 7th other than push it to the far right.

 

Confirmed from two articles, if you are in gears R, 1, 2, 3, or 4, you cannot access 7. There is a sort of lock around the gate. But on 5, and 6, you can slide right into 7.

Throws are light and precise, and seventh-gear lockout is interesting: You can’t shift from fifth gear to seventh in the 991 in the way you can shift from fourth to sixth in a 997. Seventh gear can only be accessed from sixth.

I live in Dubai and I was at the Dubai Motor Show today. Pictures are from there. New 911 is simply gorgeous. There was a great demand from the visitors. I have gone a little early to take these photos. Otherwise it was impossible to see the car alone!
