Next-gen Porsche 911 to use KERS throughout entire model range

Not saying it's true or not (I'd be the last to know) but economically speaking it makes more sense to add it across the range than to make it an option on certain models. Spread out the R&D and recoup it through more sales, since I imagine the parts/system involved will be very similar if not identical on most models (probably beefed up on GT/Turbo models, but I bet the same KERS system can be used from the C2 to the C4S at least). Economies of scale!
That being said, I know more about eye cream than I do KERS so haven't a clue what costs are like or what kind of approach is feasible.
Sounds enticing, nonetheless!!

Personally I dont believe it, at least if it is to replicate a F1 style system. Current BMWs have an element of KERS under their 'Efficient Dynamics' system which utilises energy that would otherwise be lost to charge batteries etc, not sure if this is what they actually talking about.
Its all about making changes to keep the politicians happy in the EU.

Just because autoblog "confirms" something doesn't mean it's true.
Energy recovery by way of the brakes in a Porsche is no stretch at all though, in fact, the Panamera already has a very similar system standard across the range, so I bet the 911 will get the same one. In the Panamera it's used to charge the battery under braking, and slightly improves fuel consumption.
Really bad release from autoblog. There only "proof" is a wheelbase stretch, which really has nothing to do with it, and their source is "Porsche sources in Germany". Either their "sources" are bsing them, or they misunderstood them, and their sources actually meant a brake energy recovery system as in the Panamera, not the GT3 R Hybrid.
