Next generation Porsche 911 Coupe and Cabrio at the Ring

Our busy Teamspeed spies bring us a few new shots of the next-generation Porsche 911 coupe and convertible – internally called the 998 or 991 – that will replace the current model in 2011.

Earlier reports in some media tried to make you believe this was the 911 Turbo, but on these new pictures you can see that the side air-intakes in front of the rear wheels are fakes – and so is the huge rear wing which hides the shape of the smaller spoiler of the standard 911s. Compared to the current model, the front lights are standing more upright and the side mirrors have moved from the side window corner to the side of the door. Don’t get confused by the rear lights as these are just temporary. The next-generation 911 will feature the same flat-six engine that surely gets a power boost and the new PDK dual-clutch gearbox.

They will remain round. Or somewhat round. They wont make the same mistake as the 996.

 

Interesting. Some of the first shots I recall seeing without the glass roof.

 

Agreed. I passed on the 996 due to, among other things, those amoeba headlights.

 

I really can't wait for this car!
