From the sounds of it, everyone thinks it a great improvement over the S, which it is. You get X51, rear seat delete, alcantara interior, Sport Design steering wheel, the Sport Design front end, Sport Suspension all standard. In addition, you get RS side skirts, GTS side stripes, RS Spyder wheels, wide body, and the diffuser is painted black on the rear. Also, instead of the standard X51 exhaust tips where they're metal on the outside and black on the insides, they're black on the out side, and are nano-coated in chrome on the inside. It looks awesome.
Here are some pictures of a Rennlist member's Basalt Black GTS.

I personally love this car. I read what some people think of this over at Rennlist, and the repeating theme seems to be, the GT3 is just so much better in so many areas over the GTS, that it's worth the extra 10k.
I think of it this way, do you want a Carrera model or a GT model? Is it going to be a daily driver, or for some track/weekend fun?
It seems that the GT3 is the better car. Because, you get some of the things that make the GTS great, plus a no extra cost aerokit, bigger brakes, awesome wheels, a German built gearbox (instead of the Japanese gearbox, unless you spend 4k for PDK in the GTS), a GT1 block engine, center mounted exhausts, motorsports heritage, firmer suspension etc.
The GT3 just seems worth it.
If I were older, and in the market for a 911, I'd get a Black GT3, steel rotors, Alcantara interior, PCM, Sport Chrono Plus, front nose lift, a few other things, and Euro Delivery (not sure if that's currently available ins NA). In addition, I'd get a full Euro conversion done, with the CGT seats, and Sharkwerks exhaust. But that's just me.
Good luck!
