996 carbon instrument cluster install guide

We are always asked how to install the instrument cluster on a Porsche 996. The carbon instrument cluster is one of our most popular items. This piece looks really cool in any car, and isn’t hard to install at all. Here is a step by step installation guide for the 996 instrument cluster. If anyone has any question feel free to shoot me a pm, or give me a call.

Porsche 996 Instrument Surround Installation Guide

Tools needed.
-Torx wrench T-20
-Plastic putty knife, or interior install tools

Step 1.
Use a plastic putty knife or interior install tool to pull the vent cap from the left hand side, and the hazard surround from the right hand side. Place the knife and gently pull these covers off.

Step 2.
Use a T20 Torx to take out the two screws behind the sensor cap, and hazard button.

Step 3.
Now you can gently pull the whole dash pod up. The rear is held on to the dash with clips, and the pod needs to be un snapped from the dash by pulling up.

Step 4.
You will see three plugs on the back of the pod. These clips are disconnected by pushing the clip in the center inward and pulling the black lever up. It will unhook the plug off its track. Do this for all three.

Step 5.
Next you will disconnect the hazard switch. Gently pry the switch and pull it through the dash. The whole dash pod will free from the dash completely.

Step 6.
With the pod out of the car you can now remove the Torx screws on the back and free the Instrument Surround.

Step 7.
Install is reverse, just remember to snap the rear of the pod before screwing it in.
