Spy Photos: 2012 Porsche 911 Interior

Development has come a long way in 6 months.

Look closely at the ignition in the first pic. It has two tiny holes, and that's it. It doesn't look conventional at all.

Is this an auto or manual? Shift looks like manual but the buttons on the steering wheel says auto.

A little hx on pcar perfection in the past from these pics; just perfect. I know some of you guys want this car jammed full of electronics and auto lamps and such (SL/6series for this IMO), but to me these represent what Porsche should be....

You guys all want (with the exception of you! lol) blue tooth, latest greatest Navi/command/pcm system- you complain when Porsche doesn't have 'automatic lights' (really? You can't just turn them on yourself?) You complain that they don't have a 'start button' (I understand that one) I hear complaints that Porsche interiors (still) are not as nice as an Aston Martin or Maserati (are you kidding me? You want Lincoln seat controllers in your Porsche like those in the Aston?! Or car that LOOKS like a Ferrari, yet depreciates like a anchor being tossed off a boat?!) I get complaints that Porsche's are 'too hard/stiff/loud' (seriously? It's a PORSCHE, not a Lexus or Mercedes Benz)
ETC
ETC
ETC
The issue is you want EVERYTHING, you want it NOW, and you want it for a Low low price.
And - the automakers are being whore's and doing JUST THAT.
Giving you everything. And people still complain. I sort of appreciate Ferrari in that manner. "We produce our cars the way we produce them with X,Y or Z options. Ferrari's aren't for everybody. Maybe you should go look at another car. Or piss off."
They KNOW who they are. And they KNOW who they aren't.
Porsche, with VAG's direction- this *could* get a little tricky for them. Their price point puts them in the direct market with a lot of other cars. That's a great thing however b/c they give you Ferrari Performance, with BETTER than Honda reliability and service. Porsche is a tremendous value.
But now, due to our global economy; Porsche is working even HARDER to please MORE people. They have a business to run after all. And I'm thankful for their thoroughness and thoughtfulness on their products. Yes, they're producing too many 997 variants now. But cars like the GT3, GT3RS, GT2RS, Sypder, Speedster, Turbos, Cayenne's and Panamera are all verrrry cool cars.
The will however, fail- at pleasing everyone. And for that reason alone; thank GOD there's still sweet air-cooled, clean, low mileage 911's out there.
Cheers-

I guess everyone does want something different. Out of the plethora of pcar owners I know, they love their cars's the reasons I state. Otherwise they would have gotten a proper GT. Maybe porsche should make a GT and reserve the 911 for sports car enthusiasts? I guess there isn't a correct answer. I won't be able to get one for a few years, but when I do, if they have changed the 911 into a GT market, the v8 vantage would take my money all day long. Maybe the turbo cars should be the GT lineup, and the NA version could have a different interior? Who knows...

Pana

Cayenne

SLS

Audi A8

Range Rover Sport

Gallardo

Just some interiors which might have inspired the design. There are many different variations of interiors, but it looks like most companies are leaning toward a busy center console.

lol.
