I don't see what the advantage is with mirrors mounted on the doors, instead of where they are on the 997's?

It could be anything from aerodynamics to costs (especially if that mirror is pulled from the VW parts bin or is standardized across the Porsche lineup).

No. This IS the 991. Tell me how this is the 997 Turbo S? It's completely different. The exhausts aren't enclosed, different intakes, new LEDS, new lights, circular hood etc...
