996 as a daily driver?
Hello everyone. I am considering getting a 996. Would it be possible to use a C4 cab as a daily driver? (I don't have kids) Winters here are pretty bad, how would it drive in the snow with some snow tires? Also, are there any years to avoid with the 996? Which years are the best?

Absolutely!
I had one from 60K miles to 110K miles. Car is great. Snow tires on that car will make it UNREAL.
All my Porsches have been dailys.
84' 944 bought with 190K miles sold with 220K
00' Boxster S bought with 32K miles sold with 75K

I drive it daily all winter long
I live in Niagara Falls, Canada, very similar climate to yours in Boston. I bought a 996 C4S back in July, came with an extra set of brand new snows and rims. I put the snows on in November and drove everyday to work and ran around the snowy roads among the vineyards on the weekends. Terrific handling, I already have 7,000 miles put on during winter and put the summers back on last weekend. they recommend that your snow tires on the rear should be no wider than 265 for a better grip. My summer tires are 315 fitted on 11" and the snows are 265 fitted on 10" rims. One thing I noticed when I drive the Porsche in winter compare to my other vehicles is that the gears are stiffer on the Porsche, for the first few miles until it warms up. The engine has about 9-10 quarts of oil, it takes a while to warm up. Mine is a 2002 and I am not aware if there are any bad years.
