997 Type II Test Drive...

Switching the PASM off made the car VERY compliant. That, coupled with the slightly more padded seats made for a VERY comfortable ride in the car. We did some pretty heavy driving on some rough roads just outside Echo and it was compliant without being too vague in it's handling.
Normally, any car I get in to, I hit any buttons that make it "sport" including the Continental GT. This was the first car I've ever driven in "normal/wuss" mode and it truly felt more comfortable, more gentle, but the second you hit the gas in an aggressive way, delivered a nice, solid punch.
Of course, anything compared to the GT3 with Carrera GT seats would be soft -- so my perspective may be a tad warped.

...and thanks for the invite. I'm not back in NY until the 21st. I'm back to LA tomorrow, then out to Shanghai for the SuperCup race and Formula1. Then flying right to NY.
You coming to the Garage 419 invitational?

Yes. I did a 120 mile run long drive in that car. When you see the Garage 419 episode, the green car in the mountains was that car.

I think you'll like it. It's no GT2, but even in full-automatic mode it screamed on the 4.5 mile Miller Motorsports Park track...

Emile --
Did you drive a car with the -20mm Sport PASM option? If so, did you spend any time on public roads with it? I am trying to determine just how much more stiff it feels on a long drive than the standard PASM set-up. I want to be sure that my girlfriend will be comfortable on a long roadtrip.
Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thank you very much Emile, A review is so much better from a person than anything you can read from the media in general. I really appreciate your descriptive views made me feel as if I'm there. By the way excuse my ignorance where can I find Garage 419?

I test drove the car and the PDK is very smooth... like an auto..... Not sure about the paddles but it will take some time to get use to it.... I notice that when the car is fully stopped and you take your foot off the brake to accelerate the whole car shudders in a very cool way......Sound is great....

I drove the 997.2 today (manual, S). It was REALLY good. Obviously the engine is a beast - it feels so much stronger than my 2006 S did. The other thing that really impressed me were the small details inside - the switches for the window, sport mode, etc. all felt so "perfect"; the nav and other PCM functions are so much better organized and intuitive; the feel of the leather on the steering wheel feels like a higher grade. I believe it really is a big improvement.
Also, I was planning on a 997 Turbo, but I think I'm going to stick with the C4S instead. Not many places where I live that a Turbo makes sense and the C4S has plenty of punch...
