991 Turbo .1 or .2 or...
Hi all
Anyone here who intends to place an order but is waiting for .2? If so, any idea on what is yet to come other than a mild facelift? It may be early days but 2 things put me off the .1 TT's first batch, one of them being lack of a reverse camera option and the second being the lack of an exhaust button (like the Carrera/GT3).
I'm told by the sales rep here that the reverse camera option is now available to order however that there will be no exhaust button option for the turbo models.
Has anyone heard different?
Also, anyone purchase a Turbo over GT3? Why so? I'm still battling this out in my head but leaning more towards Turbo since its more "child" friendly with back seats, etc...
What about Turbo vs Turbo S? I don't feel the need for the "S" - what are people's views? Seems the S is by far more popular making the regular Turbo more rare!

1) I don't entirely understand your motivation. Indeed it's pretty early to talk about the second gen of the 991 Turbo - I mean you see the first Turbos on the road by now. I get your wish for a better sound though. To be honest I think the 991 Turbo sounds like sh!t! However, this is a conceptual problem. So, even if Porsche launches a sports exhaust on the 991.2 Turbo, I hardly believe this is gonna change much. Only a full turbo back aftermarket exhaust system could help out here.
2) Porsche has made quite a big mistake by offering two Turbo versions right from the start (well at least that's my point of view.) Basically your point in saying "the base turbo is all I need" is absolutely correct. But thats not how the majority of people are thinking. If you can get a much better optioned, faster, overall better car for (in relation) just a little premium, well off course you take the S. You actually are the first person I know of, that is interested in the standard Turbo. And Porsche made this worse by providing 90% of their test cars as S models. No wonder, the base Turbo doesn't get any attention at all.
3) I fear this won't change. Plus this will be even worse on the resale market. The price difference between used Turbos and Turbo S's will melt and even fewer people will want a standard Turbo.
So if you ask me, got get a GT3 and enjoy it. Your stable contains enough fun cars to take the kids.

Hehe you would think I have enough 4 seater but M6 will towards Turbo payment. 612 is by far not used as a DD. Feel a turbo will give the best of all worlds luxury cruiser with super car performance both road and track.
I've specced out my turbo online and a turbo S and price difference was around $25,000. Would rather buy a regular Turbo and have some left over put towards a nice Patek or AP. Lol
So you guys reckon Turbo resale will take a big hit because of this? I agree it was premature to launch both simultaneously. Last gen only saw the TurboS come towards the end of the life of the 997. Is it me btw or does it seem that the 997.2 Turbo S is quicker than the 991 Turbo on paper?

Haha nah bro I'm done with M sadly. I've driven the new breed and sad to say that BMW M died with the V10. Hope the future brings about something special. The GC is gorgeous but doesn't excite me. I want to feel like it's my birthday everyday!

Don't listen to these track day girlies, 997.1 turbo is the easiest to tune, but tbh you really don't need much more than an exhaust....
I'm loving mine everyday and much more speed and so much more exciting than the GT3....and yes you can drive it everyday if you want, comfort, performance, the lot! I've had mine for about two years and love it to bits. ahem...
