Ruf 550

What do you guys think about the Ruf 550 conversion for the 997TT? Sounds like a chip, exhaust and new clutch for $20K. Their dyno charts are very impressive, as is the Ruf name. I'm seriously considering this or simply adding a Champion/GIAC chip to my Tubi which should get me close to the same power levels.

I would consider it for the prestige as Ruf is the best porsche tuner out there and that came from the porsche test driver who I believe is called Walter. Ruf has a good after sales service as well, checkout the 6 for a Saudi's Ruf setup which produces blue flames under wot.

I would say they are in the top 3 with RS-Tuning (distributed by Cargraphic) and Manthey. Ruf don't race Porsches so their tuning is road based only, therefore don't have the know-how of someone like RS-Tuning.

The big plus of Ruf is that the conversion comes with a 12 month warranty, handy as you lose your factory warranty on all ECU remaps.

I did some comparisons between Ruf and Cargrphic (RS-Tuning) in my tuning thread reachable from my signature.

Thanks Alex, the big thing about Ruf is that it is practically in my backyard up in Dallas. I'll keep you posted.

Doug,

Ruf is an awesome product. However, if you aren't totally concerned with warranty. I'd consider protomotive for the bang for the buck.

Doug, 20k is a lot, but then again it's Ruf. I'd take a close look at what Champion has to offer as well.

Problem is I don't want to give up my Tubi! So I may be looking at a Champion/Giac chip.

Doug, is the conversion still $20K? I noticed on their site that they now state under their parts section:

"Due to the extreme fluctuation in the Euro/Dollar exchange rate, please call for current pricing on all parts and conversions."
