New Porsche Exhaust System from Switzer
Switzer Performance may be best known for its 1000 hp GTR Nissan builds – but the company built its reputation on the back of Porsche’s phenomenal, GT-racing derived 997. From the dragstrips of Ohio to the airstrips of Russia and the racetracks of the Middle East, Switzer’s Porsches have raised the bar. Today, with the introduction of the company’s newly revised Switzer Signature series Porsche exhaust system for 997 turbo, the bar for Porsche performance is about to get set even higher.
The new Porsche exhaust from Switzer was designed to maintain the muscular sound-quality that the company’s exhausts have been known for. At the same time, however, the new design allows for even greater airflow effiency and weighs less than the previous system. “We needed a less restrictive exhaust for some of the high-power Porsche builds that we have in development,” explains Tym Switzer. “This exhaust gives us that, and we’ve been able to enhance the aesthetics of the system, as well. All in all, it’s a great update to our Porsche product.”
The most obvious part of the Porsche exhaust’s “new look” Tym described can be seen in the exhaust tips. Instead of the high-polished stainless steel of the old exhaust, Switzer’s new exhaust features a “black chrome” treatment over the double-walled, still stainless steel construction. The main body of the exhaust does away with its old polished look, as well, replacing it with a brushed finish. Both of those features will help keep the Switzer system looking newer, longer, and will help differentiate the exhaust, visually, from the old unit.
Additionally, the new Porsche exhaust prominently features the Switzer logo on the main muffler body and exhaust tips, ensuring authenticity down the road. The exhausts also feature a welded-on plate that identifies each batch of exhausts – one more quality control step that’s a step ahead of the old unit.
More power, less weight, and a new look are all over this exhaust – but one thing hasn’t changed: the price!
This new Switzer Performance Signature series Porsche exhaust system for the 2007-2009 997.1 series twin-turbos is available now for $3995 (test-pipes not included). Contact Switzer for more.
