Well, the reliability of the 9A1 motor in the 997.2 Turbo remains to be seen. Talk about cost cutting and cheapening the Turbo with a non raced block.

I'm not renewing the warranty on my GT2.

My Z3M has been out of warranty for 10 years.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them bulletproof. They give a lot of problems if you are not using them regularly.
I am referring to the air cooled models.

A warranty is very similar to your personal insurance. Insurance is bascially known as risk transfer. Everyone's threshold for risk is different. If you don't want to take a chance of an unknown loss, you can substitute the unknown for the known with a warranty at a fixed price of "X" plus a deductible, if any.

Do your homework, get the best product for the best price and file it in your "important" file. Hopefully you will not need it, but if you do, it is there and hopefully your "loss" is covered. It's all about transfering risk or choosing not to. Some self insure, some don't.

I keep mine past warranty too. It's not a concern for me as long as its properly maintained and driven well it'll last forever relatively speaking.

Besides owning an '07 TT, i also own a '91 Turbo which i drive fairly often. In 9 years that i have owned it, i have put approx 20,000 miles on it and the only un expected down time i had was when a fuel sending unit failed and i ran out of fuel

However i do have an extended warranty on my '07 though

So do I. Even after it runs out, that wouldn't keep me from getting rid of it.
