Video help
My son (semi pro photog) and I do some runs in the turbo from time to time, and usually top down. The wind noise kills any chance that the video will grab that growl from the beast in the back.
Is there any special setup that will get us some nice engine sound while video taping these runs? What have you used? How best to get mic in position? Where placed?
Thanks.

I've never tried it, but a long-cord external mike run all the way back into the engine bay might be interesting...
What you might also try is making a sort of "wind-shell" for the microphone and attaching it to the interior. Sound from the engine will carry through the body of the car into the microphone, and the shell will reduce the wind effect.
In either case, a wired external mic is a must.

Hi, 2 days ago in south France I have recorded a video with my GoPro HD, but for the sound I will never use integrated mic because too poor, same for most of the other cameras.
I use a digital recorder (for me the Zoom H2) and the sound is amazing, just need to use iMovie if you don't have experience in other professional softwares, and you will cut the audio track from video + add your own audio track (from the digital recorder).
I drove the Col de Turini (mountains roads, you might have seen that in Top Gear before) with my 997 Turbo convertible, and I am very proud of the video I did.
I will try to put it online asap! Keep posted here.

Thanks.
The digital recorder keep inside the car, my girl-friend was holding it because I didn't have anything to hold it somewhere else in the car. But the sound is still very good (roof down).
I will try to post video tonight.

Here is the video.
I will try better on tomorrow by driving the Mont Ventoux, and try to place the digital recorder somewhere else (more to the back).

It is quiet here
No answers.
Eric, do you think the sound quality is ok?
I remind you that the top was down so normally there should be wind noise, but nothing here. Sounds like in a coupe. For me the sound is very good, what do you think?
