DIY Changing Shift Knob

I found a previous DIY on rennlist: Shifter Knob/Boot Removal - Rennlist Discussion Forums

The instructions on rennlist will probably damage the rotating plastic flange that holds the knob in place. These instructions are a photo replication of the instructions found on Porsche's PIWIS TSI (https://techinfo2.porsche.com/PAGInf...?Type=GVOStart)

Fortunately the exchange does not require the dismantling of the knob itself (hence you do not sacrifice the OEM knob.)

Installation is the reverse - obviously I was installing my new GT2RS shift knob.

The final product:

Thanks to Suncoast for the shift knob...at $220, it is far cheaper than having Don in Dallas other fabric fabricators redo a previous knob. Red deviated stitching matches my interior, and I love the red Alcantara.

...and special thanks to DJ for fixing my boneheaded "posting issues." I'm an idiot.

Looks great Bob! Are you going to get the steering wheel to match?

Thanks!

Steering wheels from the 2010+ 997s require a new control unit for the airbags...I may re-wrap my current one. Pics to come

That's just mean and hurtful, Bob.
