Some people would not find this exciting but we do!

These are images of the first drop-forged raw wheel blanks to come off an 8000-ton press. These wheel profiles are very unique, allowing the creation of some great wheel designs that are strong and lightweight.

They will now be machined then finished to become the first 19" FP.1 wheels. Testing for mechanical properties will follow, moving the project closer to the final production wheels.

Raw metal is cool. How do you do the mechanical property testing? How much will the 19x11 weigh?

The forgings will be cut into pieces. Those sections will be measured and properties like tensile strength will be tested to determine stress response, etc.

The computer model put the largest rear wheel (12" width") at just over 24 lbs. We will be able to weigh a finished wheel shortly. The model should be pretty accurate though.
