EVOMSit Software on 997tt w/ VTG's.. Why all Software is NOT EQUAL!!!
We had a customer of ours refer his friend over to check his recently built 997tt on our dyno.. He just had installed at a local shop a pair of 63.5mm VTGs, Intercoolers, Y pipe, Intake, Exhaust and was told he SHOULD BE around 700-750 Crank HP..
I personally HATE when people quote or are quoted CRANK HP.. After all we can debate all day on what the drivetrain losses really are.. I prefer to know actual WHP.. However 700-750 crank HP AT WORST would need to be 600+ whp IMO..
So we baseline the car and get a dismal 529whp PEAK and a terrible midrange powerband.. The car is VERY LEAN by our standards as well.. Somewhere in the high 12's AFR..
Our customer was here on a time crunch so we were just hoping to baseline the car for him and run.. It was a Cab so getting to the ecu takes time and we decided not to setup the TQ reading & to just quickly baseline the car.. So that is why we have no TQ or RPM axis to compare..
Seeing how lean the car was i suggested quickly loading an EVOMSit tune from ToddZ as a shot in the dark based on what we saw to get things safer.. I told todd we needed more fuel and lets keep boost and timing conservative since we didnt have a lot of time to do back to back files to make the car perfect..
1st file 548whp Peak and nearly 80whp thru the midrange.. Also the AFRs came way down as well.. We would like to see them even a little richer but we will do the custom tune on monday to make this car perfect..
What i wanted to explain in this thread is you really do get what you pay for in many cases.. This was 1 of them.. Someone loaded a GIAC file and sent him on his way..
Below is the dyno sheet.. Feel free to ask any questions.. if I can answer them i will.. We will be doing a much more efficient tune on monday when we can have the car for the whole day and swap files til we think the tune is SPOT ON.. There is much more to be done on this tune and ill update the thread with the final results soon as they are in..
Thanks!!
Mike
