Porsche 996 Turbo engine builders?
I am considering a rebuild on my 996 turbo, I am told I am at the limits of my rods with my current mods, am considering a rebuild to strengthen the motor and add a bit more power as well.
I am thinking of 800-900wheel hp and will need pump (91oct at 6500' asl) and race tunes. I am not looking for a state of the art build that costs $50-60k+, takes 2 years and can only be supported by that particular builder.
Does anyone have any recommendations and some lessons learned?

Ive called Switzer a couple of times, I get referred to Tim but he is very hard to get on the phone.
I was going to PM each of you and ask what you had done, can you PM me if you don't mind? (Some like to keep their mods confidential, I can respect that).

Haven't posted for a while, figured I was due for an update...
I don't remember where I left off but, I talked to many people on the phone, emails and IM, Todd has a VERY loyal following and I can understand why.
A buddy and I made a last minute late night trip across Colorado, Kansas and Arkansas to drop my turbo off at Protomotive before leaving for Afghanistan. Todd , Cyn and company were awesome hosts and very patient showing us around their impressive facilities.
Have no fear with the security of your car, driving in/out of their "off road park" in a good SUV was interesting, much less the trained critters on their property.
During the tear down to replace the rods, etc, we found a few problems, the lifters literally fell apart when they were pulled out.. we were aware of the issues with the earlier years and had planned to use the new part number (there are a few posts about the early 996tt lifters). Someone also over torqued the cam housing bolts and pulled some threads... I'll post some pics later but why the hell would someone over torque the cam housing?
Later on during the tear down the exhaust valves were in bad shape, they were so pitted that they would be unable to be dressed up and would probably overheat with the higher power I am looking for, they and the guides will be replaced. I am guessing this was from the iA stage 4/GIAC (mis)tune failure at high altitude.
My oil pump also had some stiffness and the gears looked like something went through it at some time, probably from the iA stage 4 turbos dying (see above). I'll replace it with a GT3 model, I am told not much difference but an additional pickup which is better for road racing and track use.
I also planned on cleaning up the heads a little bit, new Alpha 30xx turbos, the infamous protomotive 5" intecoolers, intake and exhaust, the 997tt intake manifold, e85 fuel system and a few other go faster tricks that will get us somewhere between 800-1000hp at 6000'.
We should be doing the build up in the near future and will be posting more as it happens.
