Solid roof on 996 TT conversion?

I am considering removing the roof/sunroof for either alum or CF version (weight and preventing sunroof blow out at very high speeds). I have already brainstormed needinga new headliner (996.555.091.06.A14 I believe).

Has anyone else done this? Any other required parts or gotchas to avoid?

thanks!

I would advise against a modification such as this especially for resale reasons alone.

I would do it just for the weight savings and potential to hit a very high vmax.

If there was any chance of selling my car, I would agree but I am way past that point. I am in it for the long term.

sure that's possible
we have a few options such as a cf roof, cup car roof too

it's been done with street cars to build them into full track cars

The cost of the headliner is the more expensive part on this conversion and not the metal skin. If the finances of the conversion make sense to you then go for it.

Not sure if JoeTwinT posts here but he has recently done this since his sunroof popped on him at the Texas mile. I believe he used an OEM panel from one of the 996 variants. knowing Joe you'll never even know it was done. It can be done properly but will take money.
