Forgeline Motorsports Moves into Daytona Prototype Arena
Jan. 27, 2010

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - After several years of supplying high-performance wheels to GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Cask No. 16 GT class teams and teams in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Forgeline Motorsports today announced that it will also begin supplying to Daytona Prototype teams in 2010. Teams using Forgeline wheels will be eligible for contingency awards in both classes. The Dayton, Ohio-based wheel manufacturer offers a new 15-spoke wheel for use by Daytona Prototypes. Forgeline will also debut a new design for GT class machinery, dubbed the EV3R, which will be used on the brand-new Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaros and the Racers Edge Motorsports Mazda RX-8 in the Rolex Series GT class, as well as the Turner Motorsport BMW M3s in the Grand Sport (GS) class of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, among others.

"The Daytona Prototype wheel has been designed from scratch with the weight and handling characteristics of the cars in mind," said Dave Schardt, Managing Director for Forgeline. "We are excited about entering the top level of GRAND-AM and working with some of the top names in the business."
Forgeline has been manufacturing race wheels for more than 15 years and have built a tremendous reputation at all levels of sports car racing in North America. The company is in its sixth year as a contingency sponsor in GRAND-AM.

"Forgeline is another great partner of GRAND-AM that has chosen to expand its program for 2010," said Kevin Hindson, GRAND-AM Vice President, Marketing and Communications. "We are proud to welcome Forgeline back as a contingency sponsor and wish them the best of luck as they venture into the ultra-competitive world of Daytona Prototype racing."

Look for plenty of Forgeline wheels to be used this weekend as the 2010 Rolex Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge both get underway at Daytona International Speedway. The Fresh From Florida 200 for the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge kicks off the weekend's racing activities on Friday, Jan. 29, followed by the 48th Rolex 24 At Daytona on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 30-31.

Tickets for the entire weekend at Daytona are now available by visiting RaceTickets.com. SPEED will carry 16 hours of live television coverage of the Rolex 24 beginning at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday and resuming at 7 a.m. ET on Sunday. SPEED will also televise the Fresh From Florida 200 at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 13.
