I think there is too much pedantry going on there. I would say there are two types permanent 4WD and other 4WD. Porsche systems fit into the "other" catagory although the 964 system was more permanent than the latter VC activated systems and the 997tt electronic systems.

I will continue using the term 4WD for Porsche's 911 systems

I passed a 996 Turbo S cab on the road today. I was thinking, that's only like the second one I've seen out on the streets, does anybody know how many were produced?
