Autoexpress on the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo PDK
#1
"It looks exactly the same as the previous generation, with the exception of a revised light unit and updated wheel design. But under the skin, Porsche’s latest 911 Turbo is a different animal!
This is thanks to the addition of an all-new twin-turbo 3.8-litre flat-six engine. It’s 200cc bigger in capacity than the previous powerplant, and benefits from direct fuel injection.
As a result, it delivers 500bhp to all four wheels via the superb new PDK twin-clutch box. And there’s 700Nm of torque from as low as 2,100rpm during overboost.
Predictably, regardless of what gear you’re in, when you floor the throttle, acceleration is simply incredible. And as Porsche’s ultimate supercar for any weather, the Turbo sticks to its all-rounder brief. Still, there are some key changes in its character.
The new engine is much cleaner and more fuel-efficient than the previous generation’s. What’s more, it’s quieter and smoother, while turbo lag has been virtually eliminated."
