Re-Engineering the SCUD Exhaust System

Re-Engineering the SCUD Exhaust System
Ok so here we go, as I have had to switch back to OEM SCUD Exhaust for Swiss Vehicle Metriculation reasons, I decided to solve its failings.
The OEM SCUD exhaust with the valve open is fine from a sound perspective, its just as wide as Capristo Complete System, the SCUD also has Headers without Pre Cats (unlike a F430 which does). The muffler is also the same as the F430 BUT it sounds much worse with the exhaust valve closed.
The problem is the by-pass pipes, for 2 reasons
i) the diameter of the by-pass pipe is too narrow, circa 20 mm less that than the main OEM pipe
ii) it is routed in a way in which even the by pass pipe is even further compromised by the end of the exhaust valve centre spindle
Please see pics 1&2 which illustrate these 2 points
The solution is to reengineer the by-pass pipes as per pic 3, haven't heard it yet but it looks more than promising ....

Ok here we go, looks much neater and you save weight too, but the logic is simply more Sound and Power with the valve (ECV) closed. SCUD exhaust is also relatively easy to work on as it has raised higher exit pipes. The separate polished outlet covers look just like they are chromed

Ok all back together it sounds hard and fast with the ECV closed, a little like the 5V per cylinder 355 but not as extreme (430 is only 4 valve per cylinder), however the switch into the straight through pipe is VERY clean VOCALLY & LOUD, this is a massive improvement on OEM SCUD. Some sound clips to follow in due course

tx. if you look at the photo of the new F12 ECV in CAR Magazine issue July edition, page 109, it seems they have gone this way as well and made it a much narrower section too, this is what has enabled the major modification of the SCUD exhaust
