Where is all this money sprouting from in Singapore, Taipei etc? To me it seems like the older generations that were so cautious have the offspring being the complete opposite. I'm the exact opposite to my family - all they do is spend and live for now whilst i save and am extremely cautious.
Seems at odds with the heritage with which they come from...

This kind of response is very saddening for me. Owning a Ferrari to me is not really about the money spent. It's all about enjoyment, appreciation and the connection that it creates between man and a machine.
Yes, its expensive, yes, its impractical, yes, it turns head (at least in where I stay) but people who cannot respect or appreciate such marque(s) is not even deserving to own one. Sorry and that's just me

The first born male is highly valued in Chinese society. It is not uncommon to see a young boy sitting in the passenger's seat up front while the mom sit in the back, if he's the first born. You can see this in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, and HK.
In China, the problem is made worse by the one child policy, especially for families with means. The male child is their one and only heir, so anything he wants, he gets. There's a saying in ChiCom land, 小皇帝, to describe these over priviledged spoiled POS.'
In short, 打倒共產黨.

People have to realize that the average Asian millionaire is very young (low 30's average age) compared to the grey ghosts 55-60+ in US/EU. Of course attitudes are going to be much different. Grandpa Johnson is heading to starbucks with his Ferrari vs having fun. Odds favor Asia these days in people becoming extremely wealthy very fast vs the stagnant western countries. People on here are upset over that guys comment, ok what about baby boomers when they were younger in 50's and 60's racing vettes, camaros, mustangs on the streets in US? Guy is cocky in that article but lets not be jelous now....

^ I'm jealous he comes from a rich family that can afford to buy him a new 458. I am however, not jealous of the fact that he will never truly appreciate the car, as he did not put in the sweat and hardwork to purchase the car as other hardworking inviduals on TS have.
