Ma Chi's wife was apparently wondering who that young female passenger was too.....poor guy, cheating on his wife and getting into a horrific accident at the same time!

Although, if he was going fast enough and the impact high enough, it may not have been enough to dissipate the force of the impact. That, and he may have also had complications. There's any number of reasons why the driver did not survive.
