first let me say hi,
No i have not had the privilege of purchasing a Ferrari before.
It’s a long time dream & it’s time to go for it.
I must admit that when I think about it “all the time” it does make me hesitate & shake with excitement at the same time.
I have a wife & that means $ 125.000 per seat!
I don’t understand women very well; she seems to think that’s important for some reason, when I question her on this she just says… $250.000 for your seat!
I told her that it was on option I think it worked lol.
But to answer your question: yes it’s my first Ferrari.
Thank you for your interest.

) but having Purchased my F430 in 2005 I was informed (at least in the USA) if you have never bought a new Ferrari from an authorized dealer you can not order a new Ferrari. Sort of a right of passage in the NA Ferrari dealership network. Fortunately the dealership in Silicon Valley was new and a friend of mine knew the half owner here in the Bay Area, Arthur Zafiropoulo. I had met him at the dealers grand opening through that mutual friend. As a result, Art was gracious enough to allow to purchase a new F430 in 2005 for MSRP. I can now but another Ferrari based on that previous purchase. Very convoluted to say the least in the US. So it sounds like if I am understanding this correctly you can go to Maranello, Italy and order one? Just curious to how things work in Europe.

Economic times have changed and the dealers no longer have the privilege of being able to discriminate. This was at least true for 430s later in the car's life cycle. However, the 458, being brand new and with it greater demand, may lead to the return of such practices and astronomical mark-ups for first-time buyers. The dealers will pull whatever stunts (buyer discrimination, mark-ups) they can get away with (good ol' supply and demand).

Hi, I have often looked at your site in my searches & have always found you to be very professional.
May I ask if you have a list of options “even without prices” for the 458 spider as I do not even know what is standard yet! So a little help, from a professional would be very useful to me.
Thank you for your time.

Ferrari has not released a list of options yet. Even when they do often the options in the US vary from those in Europe. Because the cars are released in Europe before they are released in the states I assume that your dealers should have an options list. They have not been able to give it to you yet? I am surprised because i wonder how they are taking actual orders without this information.
There is a list of options for us to build a car in the Ferrari system but it is codes only and it does not have pricing of any kind. I will try and find a more complete list for you. However, that is not a problem for us in the states because the order process has not yet begun. WE can take generic orders and create a wait list but we are unable to submit any orders to Ferrari and no allocation of cars has been given.
I hope that you find that info helpful and I will try and find something better for you tomorrow.
On a lighter note. I can tell you that in the states the Carbon Ceramic brakes are standard. If you tell me specific features you are interested in i will tell you if they are standard or options here in the US. Is that OK?
also here is a link to a lot of spec info on the car along with a collection of videos.

Spider order
We are all fortunate that Garrett, the principal of Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale, takes time to share his knowledge on this site. The people at his store are terrific, and, if you are looking for (almost any sports) car, this is the place to go. I have been a Ferrari customer since he opened the store, and am pleased beyond words with the experience; Garrett and his team do exactly what they promise.
FFL secured for me the wonderful opportunity to visit the Atelier at Maranello. I was fortunate to be able to go when the Spider (red/black) had just returned from the Frankfurt show.
The Atelier experience is fantastic and I urge you to try and do the same if the circumstances permit. The ability to see the full range of colors, large swatches of leather, stitching, various 'ornamental' options, and to tap in to the consummate knowledge of the woman who heads up the program, make the ordering process even more enjoyable.
If you have not seen the factory (I had not since '02; the new factory came on line in '05), it is a marvel. You will spend considerable time lifting your jaw up off the floor.
The Spider is just coming on line. Press/demo cars are just being built and no customer deliveries have been made. I came to understand that the first customer cars are expected to be delivered in Spring '12, and US cars thereafter.
The car in the flesh is beautiful. The folding top works well and quickly. The lines of the car, obviously different than the coupe, are compelling. You will be very happy when you see it at your local store for the first time.

You can buy a car in any dealer that you choose but it is true that if you are not from that contry or indeed area the influence is to ask that you have a reason not to just go to your local dealer "ok that's done too" ! BUT ! in the case where you do have a very good reason a dealer is "allowed with approuval from the factory" to do the deal. ok done !.The options list is very mmm foggy i think is a good word for that, it is there but it doe's not leave the hand of the dealer if you see what i mean. It's more a case of yes you can sir.The impression i got yesterday was that at the dealership you can configure your car on the big plasma, changing at will colors & equipement etc. However only to a certain extent which allows enough room to need to go to the factory to do it "completely & precisly" This information is true & exactly what i did yesterday.
This is fact, however the program to do this on a spider will only be availibile in November or at worst early october. Therefore the spec on your car today is on the italia & will be transfered to the spider asap! But... I have asked someone who is in Ferrari & is going to the factory to try to get my "preview" spec transfered to the spider & mail it to me but i can not promise that it will happen. To say thankyou to all of you who follow this thread i can however try to post some pics of my car that i did yesterday for my own personal reasons in another contry with permission from Ferrari spa.You will need to imagine that it's the spider"sorry" but as soon as i can i will give any info possible. P.S. i am not looking for disputes or arguments on this subject it is trully as it is happening , so please sensible questions ok but please i don't want a war ,just respect my dream because you see i will get my car but i would like to keep my passion too .thankyou all. "more to follow"

The reason for the question and correct me if I am wrong anyone (not that I am concern anyone wouldn't
