After almost a two year absence, Ferrari is making a long-awaited return to Daytona International Speedway for the 2012 Rolex 24 At Daytona, and our partners at Ferrari of Ft. Lauderdale are first on the scene with car #27. Ferrari racing veterans & factory drivers Jaime Melo along with Toni Vilander will be piloting the #27 car, the first car delivered campaigned by Ferrari of Ft. Lauderdale. This Grand Am racer is 1 of 2 and the only 2 confirmed running for 2012. The Ferrari 458 Italia Grand AM will arrive Tuesday and Wednesday during private testing at Daytona that will have coverage of.
Ferrari will compete with Porsche, Mazda, Ford and GM sedans, which make up Grand-Am's GT class. having Ferrari back in the series is expected to boost interest worldwide for the Grand-Am Road Racing sanctioned sportscar event, scheduled Jan. 28-29, which kicks off the Rolex Series according to the Daytona Beach News Journal.
