Fifth Gear McLaren Mp4-12C review vs Ferrari 458
#21
Wow...
Jason on the Mclaren:
"...I don't like it..."
Jason on the Ferrari:
"....this is my most favorite car ever, ever..."
I really want to try a Mclaren when I can because the 458 is one of the finest cars I have ever driven, ever. I could not stop grinning behind the wheel.

So now that's 0-2 for the Mac. I wonder what kind of impact this will have on sales, if any. I had read somewhere that they were sold for 3 years or some crazy number.
Not to say that it's a bad car but making claims that it would be better than the 458 and now losing 2 in a row is a bit of a let down. I'm looking forward to see the Top Gear review. Hope they pit it against the 458 too.

Hang on just one second though... wasn't there a masssive buzz about ferrari not giving "anything close to stock" cars to car reviewers? Is it possible ferrari gave fifth gear a massively modified monster while mclaren gave them a "modest" stock car?

great vid, the mclaren chose the wrong oponent to pick on, ferari have been here for ever, its hard to beat them with the first or second attempt, these reviews are going to f up their sales, im glad to se brit reviews being unbiased

Like they said, you can't turn off Mclaren electronics, and that makes the diference when you are pushing the car to its limits and electronics kick in, so they had a unpredictable car.
But 468 tuned or not, I would take it over the Mclaren. Mclaren seems dull and after this reviews...GL mclaren

The basics of an all time great supercar are there in the McLaren. They just need to get serious about making the computer assistance go OFF when the driver presses the OFF button. That is NOT a big problem. It is certainly not like the GT-R where the car is good ONLY because of the computer aids. The McLaren is built like a world class, lightweight athlete with amazing agility, and explosive power.
They just need to milk some of that genius from Hamilton and Button on how to finish the final electronic setup of the new McLaren. Once that is accomplished, McLaren just may produce those very similar results over Ferrari that we regularly witness at every F1 race.
I think this debate will last a bit longer. We are talking very small, ( but significant) software changes,.. NOT the McLaren's fundamental design. I'm sure they have a much more proper electronic setup on their new race car.
