You wouldn't if you have driven in a 458 like I have.

DK- next time, I'm driving!!

On a serious note, Porsche NEEDS to come out with something to compete against the 458. It's going to be incredibliy challenging; but I know they can do it.

Wow, Stoppie loves it. That is really saying something, 'cause that's an opinion you gotta (sometimes) respect. My buddy is getting his in about 6 weeks. I cannot wait to go for a ride in that. Now I cannot wait even more. LOL

Driven? Not the 2RS. The GT2mkI997 yes. Driven IN the car? Yes.

To put it bluntly, the GT2RS is NOT for amateurs. As Savvyboy will attest, it's really more of a track machine. It's a lot rougher, a lot louder inside, and frankly, good luck sipping your Latte while screaming down the causeway. If I had the means, I'd LOVE to own a 2RS. But me being me- I'd be happy with a 458 and a 997mkIGT2, or... a 997MkIIGT3RS.

Comparisons via dollar amount is a challenge. The 458 you literally get a lot MORE for the $$. 1) the looks. 2) the sounds. 3) the fit and finish 4) the interior 5) the electronics 6) you could DD the 458- the 2RS, would get annoying 7) did I mention the LOOKS and SOUNDS of that car?

I'd give the 2RS major points for the manual transmission. But it's the last of a rare breed. - Huge HP, RWD AND!!! a manual transmission that is VERY easy to use and wonderfully positive shifts.

The 458- and DK can confirm I said this- is probably the very first car I've ever been in- where I would not really miss the aspect of it NOT having a M/T. The gear changes are mind blowingly quick, precise, and for the wow factor- it got me.

Keep in mind, that if it's my 1 silver bullet- I probably wouldn't spring for the 458. Again, ME being ME- Id' get a Porsche. My heart and Soul belongs to Porsche and their Flat-6. But in most cases where clients don't have to make that choice, I'd say- F it, order a 458 and keep your GT3. Both do very different things- emotionally. And both are very rewarding in their own way.
It's win- win.
