458 Spider - It's been remarkably quiet on any new news!

Why? To save weight, honestly it's a convertible, 99.9% of the people that will buy it don't care about the extra ~400lbs of hydralics that is needed to retract the top. Convertibles are great for cruising and imo, hardtop should be standard for all modern convertibles. If you want light weight and performance, then wait for the scuderia.

Some folks have already seen the real deal, factory had already build a few - its looking awesome, folding hardtop, no rear transparent engine cover though, think of G Performante for similarity, weight is only about 50 kg more, so the performance will not be hurt, base price about 15% more. Media presentation late August, reveal to public at Frankfurt. Basically its only month of wait till all official specs and media pics will be revealed.

Can you tell us some more about the folding hardtop solution? How do they fit the roof in the back with the engine there? Is it like the Superamerica where the roof is simply flipped backwards on top of the hood or is it somehow squeezed between the engine and the seats?
