New Car Shopping

Today was car day for the AllanLambo family... started off by going to see and drive a 2010 Lp560 Spider... Manfried at Lambo Beverly Hills graciously met us and showed us the car, and off to lunch we went with it.. Ill start with the pluses... First off with the top down the car sounds awesome when you are on it.. Much cooler than in the coupe.. The egear is MILES ahead of the older Gallardos.. Automatic sport mode makes awesome noise with its auto downshifts, and of course sport and corsa shift hard! It almost felt to me, that keeping the car in corsa, but driving normally the car shifts smoother than it does in regular mode, since in regular mode the shift is far more pronounced, while it happens far faster in corsa.. Visually I think the car looks great. As we drove down Rodeo, people taking pics etc... Wife drove it, and liked it alot. The power of the car is actually really good.. Seemed that even if I didnt TT it, it still had more than enough power to make things fun and interesting, and with the top down the wind noise and engine noise magnify everything.

Downsides... Well in all honesty the car just seems like an old friend to me now.. So similar, not much for me to get excited about.. The convertible seems to have less interior room than the coupe, and the passanger seat as usual is really bad for me.. I hate the way the seats make squeaking noises with the seat set all the way back... The radio blows, as does the navigation.

At this point... we liked it...

So we came back from lunch, dropped the Gallardo off with good thoughts in our head.. We drove down to see James at Ferrari Beverly Hills where he had a grey 458 for us to drive... As we were pulling up I told my wife that I had a bad feeling about was about to happen... She laughed and asked what.. That the car will blow up while I drove it? I replied... no thats not what I am thinking...

The moment you sit in the 458, the first thing that I noticed is the steering wheel... It is amazing.. The lights at the top of the wheel, the turn signals in the wheel, all the settings, and whatever else they had in there are one thing, but the wheel just feels special not like the generic Lambo wheel Im soo used to... The car is extremely well put together, and just feels better than the Gallardo.. It feels better put together, and fit and finish is top notch.. From this standpoint.. the 458 is MILES ahead of the Lambo..

Driving the car... OMG.. does this car drive fantastic.. It is soo smooth, the transmission is INCREDIBLE... It makes the Gallardo feel archaic... With the Gallardo in Automode, you feel the car hesitate and shift, it litterly knocks you around.. This car... you dont feel anything.. There is no interior noise, no vibration, no chassis noise... and when you want to drive hassle free, its quiet as a kitten...

Change things up... sport mode.. revs up, and omg the noise is amazing! The shifts are instant.. The steering feels light and precise... The speed.... well after the Gtt, lets just say it felt quicker than the lp560, and fast enough that if left stock or with mild mods I doubt Id complain...

The end result is... I absolutely love this car.. I dont even want to see another Gallardo! When we first looked at the Gallardo i told Manfried we were going to see the 458, but that at that point I didnt think the 458 would be worth the additional say 80K... I lied.. It is soooo worth it... Wifes opinion as well, she loved the car, and how it sounds.. Likes it in black...

Thanks for the input, it looks like the F458 Spider would fit very well? I would wait and go for a 458 Spoder!

Great thread! What an age we live in, when one of the ugliest sports cars on the market is the best one. I honestly wish you'd have preferred the G.

Can't go wrong either way.

But the 458 is something special.
