458 Ordering Mystery

I have been reading the 458 threads here for some time. And I have seen that many of you can help when it comes to actually ordering a 458 Italia.

And hopefully someone can provide a solution to the dilemma described below.

When customers are ordering a new 458 Italia I must assume that they and their dealers are using the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalization Programme guide. I have a guide that was last updated in July but has anyone seen anything added to guide since July?

Maybe a September or October Orders Collection addition to the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalization Programme guide?

Or how about this, just a price sheet update that includes the 'New' options that were added in the July collection but as of the last time I checked there still was no pricing for these new July Collections Options?

In the July Collection the following 3 new options came out but they did not have pricing for any of the three below:

(1) Leather lower zone upholstery (Modis code CTU3)
Leather on door sills, complete center tunnel and rear shelf

This would be good to know, because for some it is a less pricey option than going with all carbon fibre all the way around. Speaking of which;

(2) Carbon fibre sport package (Modis code CRPK)

A sports package has been created which includes some options in carbon fibre.
This package is addressed particularly to those who want to give to the car a highly sports character.

It includes:
· Dashboard trim in carbon fibre
· Window lifter and F1 trims on the centre tunnel
· Steering wheel with lower rim, central plate and upper rim in carbon fibre
· F1 paddles and instrument cluster frame in carbon fibre

In addition to the above in the Notes section on Page 25 under Carbon Fibre Racing Package (CRPK) it lists all of the included carbon fibre options:

. F1 Console and windows controls cluster in carbon fibre (CILR)
. Steering Wheel Central plate in carbon fibre (CIDL)
. Steering Wheel upper arch in carbon fibre + LEDS (CIDL)
. F1 Paddles in carbon fibre (CIDL)
. Instrument cluster frame (CIDL)
. Dashboard trim in caron fibre (DATR)

I am taking this to mean that you are getting CIDL, DATR, CILR with the Carbon Fibre Racing Package which is good especially if they give a price break, but one of the reasons this is important is if you want CILZ with carbon fibre door panels and carbon fibre kick sill to really do a Carbon Fibre Racing Package, then you have to order CILZ for $6138 in addition to (CRPK) but then you realize CILZ already includes the CILR which is a $2518 option by itself and is already included in the Sport Package CRPK, so kind of a mystery here.

Quite a web they weave, it riles them to believe.............ahem back to the thread....

So does the Carbon Fibre Sport Package preclude ordering CILZ? Inquiring minds want to know.

I don't know if it is just me but this stuff is not easy to follow, but hopefully someone has gone thru this fairly recently and has the answers. At least I have seen some interiors in the 458 Picture Thread that would indicate they have.

And last but probably least....

(3) Carbon fibre filter box cover (Modis code CEFB) Just a price is all we need to know.

Thanks in advance if you have been able to get your head around all these new options, it would be great to get an answer so I can finsih this order process and move on to something more important...........oh yeah, right now there is nothing more important.

For those that are interested in these options when they are ordering their car.

CRPK is $12,591
CTU3 is $1,102
CEXD is $7,870
CEXS is $7,712
FCWS is $3,305
CEFB is $3,935

All the above with the exception of CTU3 which is leather, the rest are all carbon fiber options.

The only mystery left and it may get solved this coming week as I am told there is a new Order Collections coming out, but I am not counting on that to happen because there are a couple of strange things about the new price guide.

First CILZ which is the lower zone carbon interior package has gone up from $6,138 to $8,657. And what is perplexing is that fact that the Center console is included in both the CRPK package and the CILZ package.

So if you order CRPK and CILZ what happens to the price of CILZ which went up by the way exactly the same cost as CILR by itself, which is $2,518. My guess is they just knock of the price raise but you never know for sure with Ferrari.

If anyone finds the answer to this question, please post.

Why don't you sit down with your dealer wouldn't that be easier.

Yes, it is that easy with Chevrolet, unfortunately it is not with Ferrari.

I think you're over complicating it. I just went in ordered and left on my previous car. Not the end of the world if I missed one or two carbon trim options.

Mike S,

That is great if you can do that. But I and I know there are others like me, can't just sorta order a car the way we want it. This will be the 8th Ferrari that I have ordred or owned and it just doesn't seem to me to be unreasonable to get Ferrari to divulge the pricing and availability options that they have offered since July. It really shouldn't be that hard, but it always seems to be with Ferrari. I have been working with my dealer and even a 2nd dealer that I have purchased cars from with no luck until just this last Saturday.

Besides the new pricing guide which just came out Friday, there should be a new Order Collections out in the next 10 days. I hope so, but you can't count on it when it comes to Ferrari. I have maybe 3 to 4 weeks to get my order locked in so I am just trying to make sure it comes the way I want it. I have posted on as they say another Ferrari forum and gotten great responses with good and timely information. I have been here for sometime but until this thread had never posted, but at the site's insistance I thought it was worth a shot to post something that at least I thought was critical and important to others that were either ordering new 458s or had recently done so, my mistake I seemed to have misjudged Team Speed.

Also, you may think a little bit differently about ordering a Ferrari if you first get on a waited listed car, order it and then it comes in different than you ordered and it has 23K in additional options that you didn't even order and you are told, "well take it or leave it but if you decide to leave it and order another one it will be 6 more months or so"......

That is Ferrari customer care at it's finest.
