At first, I was torn about the idea of adding weight to the car, and I know what Ferrari attempted to do with the Scuderia version of the standard F430. But then again, I'm an audiophile, and could not stand factory sound. I reasoned for the longest time whether to customize or leave it alone. Then, I told myself that with the car being made lighter by Ferrari, and it's build with more hp than the F430, and with me being only 130 lbs, I told myself that if music is what is important to you, and just do it. Then, I took the car to the audio store, and told them to make it look nice, give the best sound, and other than sound quality being a top priority, their next priority is to build the whole system "as light as you can for me" but still nice for show. I would say I added no greater than 100 lbs, thinking to myself that it's not heavy, just equivalent to me carrying a passenger all the time, a very "light" passenger for that matter. I'm happy with it.

That's all that really matters, that you're happy with it. But still, why the front plate?

Front license plates are required in Texas. The authorities will pull you over for not having them. I was very torn with this idea, but don't worry guys, I didn't use any screws to permanently damage front bump. It is simply a mounting plate with the screws securing the actual license plate to the mounting plate; the mounting plate is then 3M double glued to the front bumper at 4 small contact points the size of my index finger tip. If you tried to pull the plate out sideways, the four contact points are extremely strong, and you will a tough time to getting it off with just one hand using all your might; ONLY if you apply force and lift it up perpendicular to the mounting surface will you have a chance at removing it with just one hand. Having said all that, it is very securely "fastened", and I've taken the car on the freeway and did 500 mile round trip, and it held up to the wind perfectly.

Interesting idea....Others have also tried using a set of magnets too. Front plates are also required up here in Washington but many of us have managed to get away with not having them. The police seems to be pretty lenient about letting us go without one. It's the parking maids that are overzealous about no front plates ironically.

Fair enough mate and its your car so you can do as you wish. I seriously also love music and and I recently downgraded from a car that had a good stereo to a car that has nothing at all and it's killing me so I can see where you're coming from.

What did the guys at the audio shop have to say about the Scud? Are they a shop that usually fit out supercars of that calibre or were they quite amazed to see it?

The guys at the audio store were pretty amazed with the whole car. They have done installs in the past on Porsche 911 turbos, M3, M5, M6, Audi's, and yes, even one time on an F430, but I think this was their first Scuderia. They also said that other install jobs were much more simpler like adding a subwoofer or just swapping out factory speakers, but not messing around with anything else. This was one of their better installs, obviously b/c they have a customer that is willing to put out the money for a show quality type of install. Once my decision was made on Focal Utopia No. 5 component speakers, everything afterward was carefully thought out. The selection of that Mosconi Amp (100% made from Italy) was not only an attempt at me preserving the Italian them [although speakers were made in France], that Amplifier is recommend by the speaker's manufacturer themselves. Everyone took pictures of the work (and of the car) at the end of it all. They were proud of the install, I think, but more importantly, I got what I was looking for.
