My scud makes me cry.......

johnsgt,
I feel your pain... in my wallet, too. I bought into the Ferrari "insider's flip-it" sales pitch -- then the world changed and I'm also upside down in a scud (thankfully, not literally).
But it's not a loss if you don't sell. Drive the wheels off. Thank the diety-of-your-choice that you have your health and sufficient wealth to enjoy a great car -- even if it's a generation old.

grass is always greener on the other side....
but like i said, dont think i'll get suckered into the next scud, because it will cost more and perform the same or less than the next model.
It will be like the last emperor, just like my scud, sad but true.
I was more excitied than anyone when i spec mine out and took delivery, i think even more so than atomic
.
i did the scud exactly like how i dreamed it.
But i got tired of its lack of comfort and sound proofing, i can hear every little pebble and water hitting my under tray, its much worse than my 430. It performs better than my 430, but not THAT much better.
People argue this is a track car, which is complete BS, its a road car like any other, its not a race car, it just sticks better and make u look like a hero on the streets. I can think of hundreds of other cars that cost 1/10 as much and better suited for track work, and far cheaper in parts replacement.
i might sound like im complaining, but i really love my scud, but unless im really beating the hell of it, its not comfortable. After a half day going crazy in the scud, i was so happy to get into my 612, where i feel so nice and comfy, it just feels serene.
I think the 458 is just right, best of both worlds.

Completely get what you're saying and while most of us on the forum would be prone to go for the Scud vs the "normal" ferrari V8 there is definitely something to be said for having a few more creature comforts vs something that is always loud and rougher all the time.
The real question is, do you still love the Scud enough to keep it? If it still provides enough of a rush or thrill for you, to me there isn't a problem at all. Just drive the 612 every day (which is more suited for DD anyway) and then when you need a rush, take the Scud out and you won't have to buy anything new. Like you said, for dedicated track work there are cheaper cars that have cheaper replacement parts which could translate to more fun/freedom on the track.
If you are just in the market to buy the latest and greatest, then trade for the 458, but I don't think you are that kind of buyer. There is no rush to get the 458 anyway, since it'll be around for a bit, and you can see whether using the 612 as a DD works out for you better. Remember it'll be much harder getting a Scud again vs a 458 which will be much easier to obtain when prices settle down.
Again all the above only applies assuming you are not in the market simply to have the newest/latest car which will eventually be replaced soon after.
