That looks like a 360 engine judging by the fact that it's a 5 valve head.

I've seen clutches explote by just just putting reverse at about 60mph without releasing it!

A guy had to buy a new engine for a 959 S here, 2nd - 4th -2nd mistake

I was taught to never keep my hand on the shifter, and let the gear go back to neutral, then palm it to the next gear.

Works great so far.

Most of the money shift I see at the track happens from people holding on to the shifter with a vise grip and ramming it from gear to gear without letting it go to neutral first.

If its like the M3 its just a case where you drop the gears too low, normally happens when you going from like 5th and you wanna chose 4th but you hit 2nd instead. The speed on the road though the ratio of the box causes the engine to rev over its limits and the piston hits the valves because they cant get out of the way in time.

Its called a money shift because its costs you money. Unlucky dude, not a nice thing to happen to anyone.
Doesn't matter what type of car, when you down shift to a gear, the RPM's will match the speed of the vehicule. If the RPM's are a couple grand more than the car's redline, there will likely be damage to the engine.

This happened weekly on clubrsx forums back when i had my RSX-S.

Tight gates + vice grip shifting + newbie drivier= kaboom

Same thing happened to my boy in his Acura CL TWICE! Both times were when he was racing. Went from 3rd to 2nd when he was trying to go into 4th and BOOM! 1st time dealer covered it, second time he had to pay for it. A common problem in Acuras.
