Drove a 2001 360 6 speed

This past Saturday.

Car rolled in @ about 545pm to our store, we all looked up.

"Ferrari." I said, wondering who it was.

Turns out to be the 'new to him' 2001 360 Modena to a potential client. I say potential b/c he was in looking at a 2010 GT3. Was about to inherit a little fortune and was looking at toys to fill the garage. Long story short he ended up not being able to get the GT3 at the time due to needing the legal matters of the inheritance taken care of.

Fast forward to this Saturday, he comes in and tosses me the keys. "Let's go for a ride".

I take my normal test drive loop, about 4 miles and bring her up to about 6 grand on the clock. She's got a full Tubi system on her and sounded amazing. I even was getting used to the quirky 6 speed. After coming back I spun around and shaked hands with him. Told him congratulations and that's he's done well.

As many of you know I adore Porsche. Always will. But for what he spend on it and the condition it was in; I couldn't stop grinning. A new GT3 would have ran him $50k+ more and even a used GT3 would be similar to what he paid; but MAN for the money.... and the 20k service was indeed done, it's one heck of a car. And with the money he saved he's looking for a used GT3!

I've never driven a M/T Modena before and I gotta say, quirkiness aside, I really really liked it. Its not Porsche smooth like butta, but it's not meant to be.

...so ya.....there it is. Another car I wish I could own. LOL Good on you peeps who have a Ferrari!!

The running cost of a 360 is still several times more than even the GT P cars, until that changes, F cars will continue to log very low miles by its owners.

My 30K service for the GT2 was 1800 bucks.

How many more times 1800 bucks is the 30K mile 360 service?

One of the MANY reasons why I love Porsche. But Ferrari really is the forbidden fruit, isn't it?

Don't get me wrong, I still want an F car. Heck, my nanny bill every month for baby Scuderia can buy us a real Scuderia.

But, since I am no gazillionaire, I really don't feel that 6 or 8K for routine service is reasonable by any stretch of imagination, especially when I only paid 1800 bucks for the GT2 30K mile service.

Did your potential client even know how much it costs to service his 360?

This is why (unless I get a lotto win) I'll never own a Fezza. The only ones I really would want to own are the 550 Maranello and the 430 Scuderia. The rest don't get my pulse going (though I do appreciate them). I guess I should feel fortunate that I'm attacted so much to "just" Porsches. They're costly enough as it is...

Drove a 348 5 speed and I wasn't impressed. Someday hopefully I will drive a 360.

Yes, which is exactly why he was on the GT3; I had him call the Ferrari dealer and ask how much a 20k service is....LOL...but as people do, if it doesn't happen 'NOW' they cool off and the wandering eye begins.

Thus the Ferrari in his garage. LOL

I haven't driven a 348, but I'm told that it's one of the worst driving Ferrari's. I have driven a F1 360 with tubi, and it's a visceral experience. The sound of the V8 screaming at high RPM's behind your head as your banging through the gears and eating up pavement is pretty close to heaven. It's different from a Porsche, while I love Porsche's as well.

I've driven both a 348 and 355 and didn't like either car. Even the 575M I wasn't a fan of.

Rossion Q1 will outrun the 360. My 1000 mile service/oil change was $100.
