dumb question, why does it look like the exhaust gases are only coming from the center pipe?

In normal loads the exhaust valves are closed and the exhaust travels through the center only. In this mode the note is quiet and unassuming. On high demand the valves open and exhaust is sent to the two outside pipes. Less back pressure, more hp and the Ferrari sounds erupts!
