Unhappy Ferrari CEO: Still too early for Ferrari 458 Italia Scuderia

In an interview with CAR Magazine, Ferrari’s CEO, Amedeo Felisa, said that a Scuderia version of the 458 Italia is still a couple years away.
“The Scuderia was a special version, a new concept. For the new 458 there are not yet any plans for a new concept. It is too early,” Felisa said.

When asked what he thinks of the new McLaren MP4-12C, Felisa said: “We like the challenge. It is important to have the competition. But we are not worried about it – our culture is to do our own development.”

Ohhhhh Well for now

It is quite normal that 458 Scuderia will be launched after about 3 or 4 years from now. Same as it was with CS and 430 Scuderia.

Montezemolo told that we have to wait two years for 458 Spider according to Autoweek.

The Ferrari 458 Italia will get a spider version, company president Luca di Montezemolo told Italian reporters.

The Ferrari chief says work is under way on the topless 458 and that it should arrive in about two years. The 458 coupe launches early next year.

“[Deliveries of the coupe] will begin in the second half of January,” Di Montezemolo said in comments reported by Autocar in Britain. “We also plan a spider version, but not for a couple of years.”
The convertible likely will carry the same 562-hp, 4.5-liter V8 as the coupe.

Getting into some detail how the economy stuff works these days, maybe we can expect it somewhat sooner than the previous models were coming out. Hopefully it will not influence the build quality and it won't compromise the handling or performance of this version of the car. But we won't know untill it is officially announced, so we'll just have to wait.
