Scuderia & 16M Tire Recall

Pirelli Announces Recall

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This came from a tire industry publication today....

Pirelli recalls 1,680 PZero Corsa tires for tread, belt separation
Tire Business staff report

WASHINGTON (Sept. 3, 2009) — Pirelli Tire L.L.C. has recalled 1,680 PZero Corsa tires, size 285/35 ZR19 (99Y) K1, for possible tread and belt edge separation.

The tires, manufactured between June 2007 and July 2009, are specified for the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and Scuderia Spider 16M vehicles, Pirelli told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in a Sept. 1 letter. When those vehicles are driven at speeds above 168 mph, the recalled tires can develop belt edge and partial tread separation, leading to a crash, the tire maker said.

As of Sept. 3, Pirelli had not provided NHTSA with a schedule to notify consumers and replace the tires, the agency said. In its letter, Pirelli requested as a matter of course an assignment of a notification campaign number to accompany the recall notice to tire buyers.

I sent this to my dealer so they could talk to FNA. In my dealers response to me they said be careful and keep it under 167. (They were joking)

Yup…
And it is not only the 285/35 ZR19 (99Y) K1 if you have put some miles on your Scudi you (they) will need to change all four…

Oh and by the way happy drifting everybody

The "full scoop" from my lead tech at FoS...........

"I also received preliminary information on the Scuderia/16m tire recall. We will be checking serial numbers on the rear tires and replacing units within a range.

If the vehicle has traveled more than 625 miles as a courtesy Ferrari will also install new front tires even thought they are not involved in the recall.

Please get your vehicles over the 625 limit before coming in for tires. I have no tires currently and may need vehicles here as the tires will be shipped for specific vin numbers for tracking purposes.

I know you speak with many of the other Scud 16m owners so spread the word. I will be contacting them this week. I will update as I have actual tire availability information."
