Post Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider Unofficially Confirmed with first Low-Res Image

ust a couple of weeks a go, the first reports surfaced that Ferrari had begun development of a Spider variant of its super light F430 Scuderia. These rumours have now been confirmed after the Italian supercar maker discretely revealed a very low resolution image of the model in the video of the Ferrari California world premier event from last week.

The image comes somewhat as a surprise, usually when Ferrari are developing new models they generally do it under a huge cloud of secrecy, denying the model right up until it is officially released. A ploy that was very successfully delivered for the brand new California.Production of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider will be limited to around 300 units. It will follow in the vein of its coupe sibling with a super light structure, but an additional 70kg is likely to be added to the model's 1250kg kerb weight due to the retractable hard top roof.

The 510hp 4.3-liter V8 power unit will stay unchanged, therefore we would expect Ferrari to maintain its acceleration and top speed performance figures with the introduction of the new 7-speed dual clutch transmission system which will debut in the brand new Ferrari California. Rumors have stated we could see the model unveiled as soon as November 5th when the Ferrari Challenge at Mugello commences. Rest assured, if this unveiling date is accurate you will get all the juicy details right here on WCF as soon as they are released.

Yeah, noticed that during the premiere last week, and even tough it's a "pointless" car I freakin' love it! Talk about a fun car to blast around in.

Mmmmmh, I guess we could think it goes back to the time when race cars were open roadsters ...

Why take a car designed to be hardcore and lightweight...and add an additional 70kg's? Seems like a car tailored for the U.S and Middle eastern markets more than a real trackable Ferrari. But it'll look pretty damn sweet driving around Harrods or going down Sunset.

The "Scuderia Spider" should appear next spring/summer.

I think it'd be better and save more weight with a removable hard top like the Carrera GT...

100 for the US apparently.

I'm with Jay, for the dough, I'd get a CGT.

This is exactly what separates Ferrari from Porsche. And I don't mean that in a good way.
