A few weeks ago, the annual Pikes Peak International Hillclimb race was held. The climb to the clouds, which began in 1916, represents one of the oldest racing competitions in the world, and one of the premiere destinations for racers of all class and caliber to come and compete against one another. It’s a veritable who’s who of racecar drivers. And this year was definitely one of the best.

However, this year, one man and one awesome car came to Pikes Peak for the sake of the fans. MotorTrend sent “Ignition” host and racecar driver, Randy Pobst to tackle Pikes Peak. And there would be no better car to do that in than a purpose built PPR Nissan GT-R.

Let me just start off by saying that even though the hillclimb is now fully paved, and the organizers have built some run-offs, this is still one of the most dangerous races around. And at about the 16-minute mark of the video below, Pobst definitely learns that the hard way.

Now, sit back, relax, and keep your eyes glued to the screen, because this is an epic video.
