Watch New Porsche 911 GT3 Run Nürburgring in 7:12.7
For the record, that’s 12.3 seconds faster than the previous 911 GT3. And it’s the second-fastest Porsche to ever lap the Green Hell.
Nurburgring times are usually meaningless figures that automakers use to reveal how much better the new version of a car is, and how the vehicle compares to other competitors on the market. As such, the new Porsche 911 GT3 isn’t even a month old yet, but the engineers haven’t wasted any time with setting a blistering lap around the infamous Green Hell.
The new GT3 managed to complete an entire lap of the Nurburgring in just 7:12.7, which you can enjoy in its entirety in the above. That’s 12.3 seconds quicker than the previous iteration of the sports car.

The new 911 GT3 that set the lap was fitted with the standard PDK transmission, because while the six-speed manual is the more enjoyable transmission, the PDK is quicker. It also boasts rear-axle steering, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and carbon ceramic brakes, which are an optional extra.
Porsche couldn’t have asked for a nicer day to set the fast lap, as the ambient temperature was 46 degrees, while the track temp was 57 degrees. The perfect weather allowed the 911 GT3 to become the second fastest Porsche to ever lap the Nurburgring, after the 918 Spyder that completed a lap in 6:57
If the new GT3 is this quick, it’s hard to imagine what the new GT3 RS will be capable of. Or, dare we bring up, the highly rumored GT2.
