Ultra Rare Vignale Ferrari 212 Hitting the Auction Block

Stories about Ferrari’s vintage cars have started to take headlines lately, as each “new” old red Italian sports cars seem to try and “out-rare” the previous car that went along the auction block. And having a re-bodied Ferrari would prove to be advantageous in the home court. That’s where we find this Vignale body Ferrari 212.

Just over two dozen of these 212s were made, and this is one of only a few Vignale-body Ferraris to go up for sale recently. It won’t win over too many people in terms of looks, as the rear bumper is somewhat polarizing. But in terms of rarity, it’ll be tough to beat. Amazingly, this one seems to be a “survivor” with only minimal attendance needed.

Estimates are that this one will fetch between $1.8M and $2.2M when it heads to RM Sotheby’s auction in Arizona at the end of this month, based on previous examples sold in year’s past. It also has an interesting past tied to it, having been owned by a state senator (why can’t we have cool state senator car guys these days?), though ownership changed hands after he sold it somewhere around the early ’70s.
