CAMAL Ramusa Is an Off-Road Supercar With a 20-Year-Old Bugatti Engine
As long as there are segment gaps, somebody, somewhere in the world will try to fill them. Design firm CAMAL released images and information on a project called Ramusa that the company designates as a “HyperSUV.” But that’s not even entirely accurate, because it’s not an upright vehicle with plenty of space for a family and camping gear. It’s more of a sleek, raised supercar that can handle more than blacktop.
First of all, this thing has a 3.5-liter quad-turbo V12 engine from a Bugatti EB110 in the rear. Yes, that’s the 20-year-old Bugatti. That links with a hybrid system with an electric motor on the front wheels intended to provide power and traction for all-wheel drive. Together, the system makes 800 horsepower. In order to keep weight down, the car uses a carbon fiber monocoque chassis.
The HyperSUV’s dimensions are the most intriguing part. Ramusa translates to “lizard” in Piedmontese, and its two-seater sports design is appropriate for an off-roader that slithers around. It’s 170 inches long, 80 inches wide, and 51 inches tall. But it has a 9.84-inch ride height. For reference, the Jeep Wrangler’s ground clearance is 8.8 inches. The Ramusa isn’t going to be able to run through the desert like a trophy truck, but it should be able to handle some dirt paths.
