Silverstone Classic Sale Features Multiple High-Dollar Transactions
This year’s Silverstone Classic Sale featured some incredible machines. But these three are the rarest (and most expensive).
Each year, the Silverstone Classic Sale features some of the most desirable and drool-worthy machinery on the planet. This year’s event was certainly no exception, as several notable vintage and modern supercars crossed the block, hammering for exceptional prices. The Irish Sun was kind enough to sift through the enormous number of lots at this year’s Silverstone Classic Sale and make a list of the most expensive of the bunch. And among those high-dollar sales, these are the ones we found the most intriguing.
One of our favorite rides was this immaculate 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, which hammered for just under $450,000. The Spyder is just one of 235 right-hand drive examples ever produced, and this particular example received a restoration back in 2009. It also comes with a full ownership history and only 41,000 original miles. Since the Dino’s restoration was completed back in 2010, it’s remained in the hands of notable experts The Ferrari Centre in Kent.
Coming in just below the Dino in hammer price was a 2005 Ford GT, which sold for just over $258,000. The one-owner supercar has only 5,081 miles showing on the odometer. This particular car is not one of the 101 cars originally imported to the U.K. by Ford. Instead, it was imported on its own and sent to Roush Engineering for a conversion to European spec.
Finishing up our high-dollar trio is this gorgeous Porsche 930 Turbo G50, which sold for just over $203,000. The 911 represents just one of 130 Turbo coupes sold in the U.K. for the 1989 model year. And it’s been in the hands of the same owner for the last 23 years. Today, it shows only 29,000 miles and has a full documented history to go along with it.
