Brass-era race cars, wine tastings and exhibitions aresome of the events expected at Sonoma Raceway next year.

At the end of May 2019, Sonoma, California’s Sonoma Raceway came to life with an extravaganza the famed circuit had never experienced before: the first-ever Sonoma Speed Festival. Over 200 machines roared upon the pavement, including the 2016 Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport F1 W07/04 piloted by test driver Esteban Gutierrez.

How do you top that? By returning to do it again, but better. Coming to Sonoma Raceway May 28 through 31 will be the second edition of the Sonoma Speed Festival. There’s tons of happenings planned for this special affair, with more to be announced in the coming months.

“Our inaugural event was a smash hit with both fans and participants,” said Sonoma Speed Festival GM, Ryan R. Turri. “We look forward to making this event even better for 2020.”

It’ll be hard to hit a second home run with the Sonoma Speed Festival, especially when the first edition had a pair of rare Ferrari 250 GTOs, a McLaren F1 GTR Longtail, and two Ford GT40s in Gulf Oil colors knocking the socks off of all in attendance. Currently, the organizers plan to have cars from the Brass Era of motoring (1896 through 1915, when cars were called ‘horseless carriages’) battling each other on the circuit, along with cars stretching into the modern day.

Away from the track, it’s Sonoma Wine Country all day, every day, with wine and cheese tastings for those who enjoy the finer things in life (and may not be all that into the cars on the track). Families can also picnic in a special area, there will be static displays along the grounds, live entertainment, and so on.

Right now, all things are quiet on the Sonoma Speed Festival website, but you’ll soon be able to purchase tickets and learn more about the 2020 edition. You can also follow along via Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We certainly can’t wait to see what the organizers all have planned for the final days of May 2020 in Sonoma, California.
