Rennen International Takes Us Behind the Scenes of One of the World’s Largest Distributors of Aftermarket Wheels
Last month, Rennen International started off 2017 with a blast by hosting an open house and car meet at its West Coast location in Ontario, California. For those of you unfamiliar with Rennen, it is one of the world’s largest distributors of aftermarket wheels. From 11 a.m. all the way until 5:00 p.m., the event was held on both Saturday and Sunday, February 25th and 26th. However, the nice people at Rennen had me arrive a bit earlier to get a sneak peek inside their facility before it was open to the public.
Made in the USA
In addition to being a major aftermarket wheel distributor, Rennen also manufactures its own forged wheels. Weiz, the Ontario location’s general manager, gave me a one-on-one tour around the manufacturing center. In one large room I counted more than a dozen CNC machines that were responsible for creating countless wheels that were stacked all over the warehouse. I walked with Weiz as he was describing the intricate process of making a multi-piece forged wheel from scratch. It was quite a privilege to see first-hand how a wheel is created from start to finish.
Hang on Just a Minute
After the exclusive tour, I decided to head outside to get some fresh air and check out the cars rolling up to the meet. It’s safe to say it didn’t take long for a car to catch my attention. The car that caught my eye as soon as I exited the building was no other than a red Porsche (997) 911 Carrera. The gold, forged Rennen wheels against the red paint weren’t what did it for me. Rather, it was a Chevy small block LS V8 that was sitting inside the engine bay. I had yet to see an LS-swapped 911 in person, so it was quite a sight to be seen.
Cars, Cars and More Cars
After checking out the LS-swapped 911, I walked around to further explore the constellation of vehicles. We’re talking BMWs, Mercs, Mustangs, Corvettes … I even caught a lonely Civic in the corner of my eye. It was fantastic to see the amount of enthusiasts who came out to the event; from young car lovers to older ones who even brought the whole family including their dogs.
If you couldn’t make it, you truly missed out on a great event. Rennen was kind enough to provide lunch to those who RSVP-ed. Music kept the party alive, and was provided by Real 92.3’s DJ Carisma. If you’re in the market for a fresh new set of wheels, we highly recommend you take a look at what Rennen International has to offer.
Thanks to Rennen for inviting us, and we can’t wait for the next one!
