Rare Manual RHD Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Cabriolet Heads to Auction

Ferrari Mondial

As far as underappreciated Ferrari vehicles go, this nicely kept Mondial offers up plenty of bang for the buck.

As all rabid Ferrari fans already know, some models are far more coveted than others. But that also means that there are quite a few underappreciated classic Prancing Horses that present tremendous value. One of those models is the Mondial, the rear mid-engine, V8-powered grand tourer that replaced the 308/208 GT4. It’s also the last V8-powered rear mid-engine 2+2 that Ferrari ever produced. And yet this stellar 1987 example up for grabs at Classic Car Auctions’ May 25 sale doesn’t look like it’ll command a premium price.

More specifically, the auction estimate stands at a mere $32k-$38k. Which is a bargain compared to most vintage Ferrari machines. And for that money, you get a car that’s also quite practical. The Mondial is a legit long distance tourer, with sufficient space, easy access, and good visibility. Even better, this particular example is the Cabriolet, the only four-seat, rear mid-engine drop top on the planet.

The beautiful Blue Sera Ferrari is also right-hand drive and comes with a manual transmission, which only ups its desirability. Living with the same owner for the last 17 years, it shows only 48,300 miles on the odometer. The car has been lovingly cared for over its entire life span, with a full service history. And yet, it’s priced about the same as a new compact crossover.

We certainly know which vehicle we’d rather have, and it isn’t the vanilla crossover. So if you’re looking to get behind the wheel of a unique Ferrari on the cheap, this Mondial looks like the way to go. It packs all sorts of cool quirks and a fantastic ownership history. What more could you want out of an exotic?
